Cape Town - Wolfs Fang Runway - Whichaway Camp/Echo Camp
We fly to Antarctica (5 hours) and cross thousands of icebergs as we pass over the Southern Ocean.During the flight, we cross into the polar circle and into 24 hours continuous daylight. Landing on the specialist ice runway, you will be escorted to Wolf’s Fang.
Whichaway Camp/Echo Camp
Settle into Wolf’s Fang and discuss your options for the coming days with our experienced guides. Then set out for a hike through the nunataks around the camp, getting to know the incredible topography of Queen Maud Land.
Whichaway Camp/Echo Camp
Summit Day. The journey to the summit will follow a valley carved out by the glacier and then up on to rocky ridge that leads to the peak. At the summit you’ll experience the essence of exploration, standing where few humans have ever stood before. Back at base camp, you will enjoy a hearty meal and toast your achievement with champagne.
Whichaway Camp/Echo Camp
The return trip will be by foot and skidoo with a stop half way to put your ice climbing skills to the test. The wind scoops around the nunataks make the perfect spot for testing and improving your ice-climbing skills.
Whichaway Camp/Echo Camp - Wolfs Fang Camp
A convoy of Arctic Trucks, and skidoos for the more adventurous, will traverse you across the glacier to the base of the Needle Peak, so named as the rock explodes vertically out of the ice. Here you will follow the challenging rope walk set up by our guides across the rock and ice. Late lunch will be served before the journey back to Wolf’s Fang.
Wolfs Fang Runway - Cape Town
The flight out of Antarctica will be the last of your unforgettable Antarctic memories before you delve back into the energy and heat of Africa. You will be transferred to your hotel where you will have a chance to relax in a hot bath and reflect on your Antarctic adventure!
The Wolf’s Fang range and its surrounding nunataks are the perfect playground of ice and mountains. Scale walls of ice with the help of axes and crampons, explore windswept peaks where few humans have ever walked and for the more adventurous, traverse to an overnight remote camp where you will camp out on the glacier just like the explorers of old. Between rugged mountain ranges and spectacular frozen waves of ice, our guides will expand your horizons and push you only as far as you want to go. Our philosophy is simple – do as much or as little as you like. After all, it’s your adventure
