Upon arrival at the airport, warmly welcomed by our representative and transferred to hotel. Enjoy dinner and stay overnight to start your journey refreshed.
TUNIS - BARDO - CARTHAGE - SIDI BOU SAID - TUNIS
After breakfast, visit the world-famous Bardo Museum in Tunis, renowned for its exquisite collection of Roman mosaics, considered the finest in the world. The museum also features intriguing Early Christian mosaics, offering a glimpse into the development of Christian art.
Next, embark on a short orientation tour of the old Medina on foot. Founded by the first Arab conquerors, the Medina boasts monuments from both the Arab and Turkish periods, including the Great Mosque built by the Aghlabid dynasty in the eighth century AD.
Continue to explore the ancient site of Carthage. Initially established by Phoenician traders from the Levant as a trading post en route to southwest Europe, Carthage later became a powerful entity in its own right. Highlights include the Byrsa Hill, the site of Carthage's founding circa 814 BC according to Roman sources, featuring the characteristic Tophet Graves of the Carthaginians, and the Archaeological Park centered on the Antonin Baths.
Then drive to the picturesque village of Sidi Bou Said, known for its charming blue and white architecture set against the backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea. Enjoy some free time to explore the village and capture memorable photos before returning to the hotel.
TUNIS - TESTOUR - DOUGGA - KAIROUAN
After breakfast, depart from our Tunis hotel and drive into the fertile northwestern part of Tunisia, known for its agricultural activity and historic towns.
Our first stop is the Andalusian village of Testour, known for its unique architecture and cultural heritage. Then continue journey Dougga, considered the best-preserved Roman city in Tunisia. Dougga offers a glimpse into the ancient Roman way of life.
Finally, we arrive at the holy town of Kairouan and check in at the boutique hotel for a relaxing stay.
KAIROUAN - TOZEUR
After breakfast, explore Kairouan, a city renowned for its exceptional Islamic architecture. Highlights include the Great Mosque of Okba, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the oldest place of worship in North Africa, and the mausoleum of Sidi Sahabi, a companion and disciple of the Prophet Muhammad. We'll also visit the impressive 9th-century water pools designed to collect and store winter rainwater. A walking tour of the old town will take us through the ancient marketplace surrounded by 11th-century walls.
Next, drive to the town of Tozeur, known for its vast oasis covering about ten square kilometers and containing around 400,000 palm trees . After checking in at the hotel, have some free time to relax and explore this unique town. Optional activities include a horse-drawn carriage ride into the oasis to learn about the date harvest and sample local dates ( Additional charges apply) .
In the late afternoon, embark on a 4x4 excursion to the desert of Ong Jemal, known for its sand dunes and as a filming location for several Star Wars episodes, including the Lars farm in episodes 2, 3, and 4.You'll have free time to capture stunning sunset photos before returning to the hotel in Tozeur.
TOZEUR - CHEBIKA & TAMERZA - CHOTT JERID - DOUZ
After breakfast, drive to the Mountain Oases of Chebika and Tamerza, situated amidst the rugged outcrop of the Atlas Mountains near the Algerian frontier. In Chebika, take a walk to see the Berber village, waterfalls, and the spring of the water, then continue to the picturesque village of Tamerza, famous for its spectacular scenery featured in the film, The English Patient.
Next, drive across the Chott el Jerid, the Great Salt Lake, which acts as a barrier between the Sahara Desert and the fertile North. If we are fortunate, we may witness mirages on the horizon.
Our journey will conclude in the town of Douz, also known as the "Gateway of the Sahara." , visit the local market and have the option to enjoy a camel ride in the sand dunes (Additional charges apply).
Finally, we will check in at the hotel for a relaxing evening.
DOUZ –MATMATA – TOUJANE – CHENINI - TATAOUINE
After breakfast, we will head north to Matmata, known for its association with Star Wars and for being the center of the most extensive number of traditional troglodyte pit homes in the region. These simple underground dwellings to escape extreme weather conditions and potential invaders, providing a unique experience of troglodyte living. Visit one of these dwelling caves, known for its depiction of the Lars homestead in Star Wars.
Next, explore the Ksour district, centered around the rugged hills of the Jebel Dahar Range. Our journey will take us to the mountain villages of Chenini and Toujane, characterized by cave houses built into the mountain slopes, with a white mosque at their center.
Finally, we will check in at the hotel in Tataouine for a well-deserved rest.
TATAOUINE - KSAR AOULED SOLTAN - DJERBA
After breakfast, our first stop is Ksar Ouled Soutane, located 20 kilometers south of Tataouine. This well-preserved fortified ksar is constructed entirely of dry mud. Originally built in the 15th century, the ksar features two courtyards connected by a passage made of palm wood.
Next, drive to Djerba Island, where we will explore the island and its major attractions, including the Jews' Synagogue, the pottery town of Gualala, Djerbahood, and the souks.
After our exploration, check in at the hotel. The rest of the day is free for leisure, allowing you to relax and unwind. Dinner will be arranged at a local restaurant.
DJERBA - EL JEM - SOUSSE
After breakfast at the hotel, if the weather permits, there is a possibility to take a boat trip to discover the Island of "Les Flamants Roses" (Flamingo Island). Later, depart to El Jem to visit the largest and most spectacular Roman amphitheater in North Africa, along with the remains of the Roman villas in the town and the archaeological museum.
Our journey will then continue to the coastal town of Sousse, where we will visit its old town, known as the Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Finally, we will check in at the hotel in Sousse
SOUSSE – DEPART TUNIS
Depending on the flight time, after breakfast, we will depart from the hotel to Tunis Carthage airport for your flight back to your destination.
